Language Therapist for adults and children What to Expect

Infection Prevention and Control:   In keeping with the Ministry of Health and CASLPO guidelines with regards to Covid-19 Infection Prevention and Control,  Deborah will be screening you before each visit,  hand washing/sanitizing, wearing a face shield and sanitizing all surfaces between clients.  You will be asked to wait in your car and texted when it is time for your session to begin.  Please wear a mask upon arrival.

Speech Therapy is not just for children.  Many adults find the sessions productive and impact on their everyday lives.   As an adult, you can expect to be treated with respect and play an active role in deciding the goals, materials and direction that the therapy will take.  Assessments are an hour in length. Therapy sessions for stuttering and articulation are usually 45 minutes in length.  Accent reduction sessions will require a full hour in order to allow for practice time within the session.  Deborah will cater to your goals and budget in planning the frequency of the sessions.

As a parent of 3 children herself, Deborah understands that parents want to make sure that their children are approached with a kind and gentle manner.   The sessions are fun.  Having said that, Deborah’s experience and energy enable her to work with many learning styles and when necessary, behaviour and attention issues.  Deborah has “lots of tricks up her sleeve” to make sure that her students focus and learn while having fun.  Students are given a folder to take home with games and materials to practice during the week.   Children are given a prize from the prize basket at the end of each visit for co-operating, which makes it all worthwhile!
